Sidney Benton Plummer Jr. (Sid) of Olney, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009. He was 93 years old.

Visitation will be Wednesday September 30 at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.. The funeral service will be Thursday am, October 1 at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home. Mr. Plummer will be missed by the staff of Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, as he was a valued team member for several years.

Mr. Plummer was born June 4, 1916 in Conroe, Texas, the son of Sidney and Eloise (Clarke) Plummer. He was especially blessed to have found love twice. He married Frances Virginia Goss on January 23, 1939. She died January 11, 1977. He married Mary Jane Roberts Dunbar on August 20, 1978.

Mr. Plummer graduated from Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 15 and attended the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the RUF/NEK's. He joined Hughes Tool Company in 1942. He had a long and successful career, retiring in 1981. He also worked for Summers-Kistler Funeral Home for several years after retirement. Sid was a member of First United Methodist Church, Olney. He was very active with the Masonic Lode. At one time he served as Master Olney Lodge # 140 A.F. and A.M., High Priest Henry Godeke Chapter # 38, thrice Illustrious Master W.R.Lashbrook Council # 55. He was a member of Gorin Commandery # 14-Knight Templar, York Rite college # 33, A.A.O.N.M.S., Ainad Temple, A.A.S.R. Danville Valley Center Shrine club, Sword of Bunker Hill. Additionally, Sid belonged to F.O. Eagles Aerie # 2549 and B.P.O. Elks # 926. Sid felt he has a wonderful life with a loving family and many good friends and business associates. He had a sharp wit, a keen mind and loved telling jokes. He left us with wonderful memories and words cannot express how much he will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Plummer,; his children, Phyllis (Plummer) and her husband, Jack Clark of West Des Moines, Iowa; Craig Dunbar of San Antonio, Texas; Sally (Dunbar) and her husband, Karl Meixner of Duluth, Ga.; Peggy (Dunbar) and her husband, Mike King of Olney; and Rob Dunbar and his wife, Annie of Emden; his grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Annie Clark, Sydney (Clark) and her husband, Neil McManus, James (Skip) Clark, Craig and his wife, January Dunbar, Adam King, Anna King, Eli Dunbar and Joel Dunbar and Kim Stull; plus eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Benton Plummer Sr. and Clara Eloise (Clarke) Plummer and his brother, C. D. Plummer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospitals or Mason Point, a Masonic Home, One Mason Way, Sullivan, In 61951.

The family would like to express its sincere appreciation for the loving care Sid received from the staff at Burgin Manor and the Intensive Care Unit at Richland Memorial Hospital.
