Last Rites Held For Mother Berry At Blue Mountain Funeral services for Mrs. Modena Lowery Berry, "Mother Berry" to thousands of girls who attended Blue Mountain College, were held Sunday afternoon in the Lowery Memorial Baptist Church of which her father, General Mark P. Lowery was the first pastor. A crowd which overflowed the auditorium heard the solemn services. "Mother Berry" had been connected with Blue Mountain College for 69 years and held the title of vice-president emerita since being relieved of some of her duties at her own request in 1934. Her passing will be felt keenly in Winona and surrounding sections for numbers of girls have attended Blue Mountain College in past years.
