Jerry Dale Ballalatak, age 69, of Des Moines passed away on Friday December 2, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines of a heart attack. Jerry was a very devoted husband, Step-father, and a very loving grandpa. He was also a very caring brother and uncle. Jerry is survived by his wife Sheryl of seven and half years of Des Moines, step-sons, Vern and Rod Green both of Des Moines, adopted children, Aaron and Tian Ballalatak. Siblings, Jane Ann Ballalatak of Lovilia, Dennis(Karen Hinote)Ballalatak of Albia, Jeanette Buckley of Bussey, Jim(Deb)Ballalatak of rural Albia, and Donna(Don)Zoutte of Knoxville, seven grandchildren: Alex, Rodney, Madison, Lisa, Vern Jr., Crystal, and Danielle, and several nieces and nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Kevin.

Jerry graduated from Lovilia High School, class of 1959. He then joined the Navy. Jerry and his wife were past members of First Assembly of God Church in Princeton, MO before moving to Des Moines. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, and always enjoyed reading and doing word searches.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 10:30 am Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lovilia with Rev. RD Strieeter officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by American Legion Howard Cessna Post 136 of Albia and Chester Bishop 613 of Lovilia will be in St. Peters Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, opening to the public at 1 pm and the family will be present from 6-8 pm at the funeral home in Lovilia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
