Parents: Norman and Ursula Kagele.

He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1981 and received his M.D. at the University of Washington in 1985. He did an internal medicine residency through the University of San Francisco in Fresno, California. He did a pulmonary and critical care fellowship through the University of Seattle. He has practiced in Roseburg, Oregon, for the last 11 years.

Steve's passions included his family, fishing, and practicing medicine. He was known for his tireless work ethic, his sense of humor, and his dedication to improving health care for the community.

He leaves behind his wife, Patricia; his children, Alec, Eric and Marissa; his mother, Ursula Kagele of Seattle; his siblings, Madeline Erickson and her husband, Bernie of Moses Lake; Alice Gumprecht of Springfield, Illinois; Douglas Kagele and wife, Shannon of Ephrata, Washington; Faye Kagele and her husband, Jeff Rogers of Winters, California; and Julie Kagele of Chelan, Washington. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Kagele (of Ritzville, Washington) and his grandparents.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment at Roseberg Memorial Gardens.

Steve will be truly missed by his many friends and those who knew him.
