Henry settled on Stinking Creek in Summers County. He was quite a celebrated character throughout his early life. He was charged in connection of various offenses and spent some time in jail. He was charged and convicted of burning the Walker and Peter's tabacco barn but was acquitted at a re-trial. Later Henry Mann confessed and paid damages.
