Alfred Harris, twice Mayor of Brunswick and a well-known locomotive engineer, died Saturday night at Newton D. Baker Hospital, Martinsburg, W. Va., where he had been a patient for nine months. He had been ill for three years.

A native of Dickerson, Mr. Harris had resided in Brunswick for the past 29 years. He was a son of the late Abraham and Mary Taylor Harris.

Active in fraternal circles, Mr. Harris was elected Mayor of Brunswick in 1938 and was re-elected in 1942. He declined further public service at the expiration of his second term because of his health.

He was a member of Brunswick Lodge, No. 191, A. F. and A. Masons; Hagerstown Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Brunswick Chapter, 97, Order of the Eastern Star; Loyalty Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Brunswick; Steadman-Keenan Post, American Legion, Brunswick; Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 1136, Brunswick; Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers, and the Brunswick Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Estelle Whitter Harris, and two brothers, Harvey J. Harris, Dickerson, and Charles Harris, Washington.

The body is at the funeral home in Brunswick, where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted there Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Andrew B. Jones will officiate. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. C.H. Feete and Brother, funeral directors, have charge of arrangements.
