Murder Victim. Luna who was a native of New York, New York, was a federal prosecutor from Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Fordham University and the University of North Carolina Law School, later becoming an Associate of the Washington law firm of Arnold and Porter in 1993 and in 1994, before becoming a Staff Attorney with the Federal Trade Commission's General Counsel Office from 1994 to 1997. Luna also served as Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York, before becoming Assistant United States Attorney in Baltimore, Maryland. Luna was known for his champion of the less fortunate, often taking cases that involved racism or other hate situations. He often wrote to newspapers and complained how people were treated and helped to better run-down neighborhoods and the people who lived there. His last caae was in the prosecution of a Baltimore, Maryland, rapper Deon Lionnel Smith ('Papi Jenkinz') and Walter Oriley Poindexter, who were suspected of dealing drugs out of there Stash House Records Studio. The case was later closed with a plea bargain with Smith pleading guilty to possession of a weapon and distributing heroin by means of drug trafficking. On December 3, 2003, the day the trial was over, Luna was reported missing by his wife. His body was found floating in water in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on December 4, 2003. Luna had been stabbed numerous times. He was 38 years old.
