Ray was born May 26, 1930, in Jake's Prairie to the late Gilbert M. Ellis and Mattie Nowack. On June 23, 1951, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Enke in Pocahontas, Ark. He served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952-1954 receiving the Korean Service Medal with two stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the Rosebud American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Castin Ellis.
His survivors include his wife, Dorothy; their sons, Scott Ellis and wife Liz of Olathe, Kans., Todd Ellis of Owensville and Trent Ellis and wife Lana of Owensville; and six grandchildren.
Burial in the St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Bem.
