Greenville Man Died in Germany
News Received Here of Death of Ansel A. Austin at Coblenz.
Mr. Austin was supply sergeant of Company 4D, provisional machine gun battalion, and has been on duty at Coblenz for some months. He was a native of Simpsonville, this county, and had numerous friends in this section of the state. He visited Greenville during the Thirtieth division reunion here last September having been on a furlough at that time, but returned to his overseas duties shortly after. Mr. Austin was originally a member of the third division of the regular army, and had been in the military service since he was 21 years of age. He was 31 years old and was expecting to be retired from the service this fall. The deceased was a son of the late W.N. Austin of this county who was a veteran of the Confederate war. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. D.L. West, Mrs. J.E. Jones and Mrs. E.N. Austin, of Greenville, prohibition enforcement agent and F.J. Austin of Asheville. Efforts will be made to bring the body to Simpsonville for interment.
