Company A, 125 PA Volunteer Infantry

Mustered in 10 August, 1862.

Survived combat on the single most bloody day in the Civil War (and American History)-the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862.

Wounded and Missing in Action at Chancellorsville on May 3, 1863, the second most bloody day of the Civil War. Admitted on 6 May to 12th Army Corps Hospital in Aquia Creek with a fractured left leg (later to be amputated).

Died of wounds May 8, 1863 (accourding to SR & HR). Fredericksburg Cemetery Visitors Center's records have "May 8" as the date-of-death; however, there is some belief that it was June 8). Originally buried at Hedgeman's Farm, Stafford (reported in Role of Honor).
