Andrew Jackson "Andy" Atkins, 88, of Amarillo died Saturday, April 17, 2004.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Panhandle with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs of the church officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Mr. Atkins was a native of Nocona and a Panhandle resident until moving to Amarillo five years ago. He married Roberta Hogue on April 2, 1943, in Amarillo, and served in the Air Force and the Army during World War II.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Panhandle. He retired with Phillips Petroleum Company as an operator, and worked in the trucking industry.

Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by his wife in September of 2000; his parents; and two brothers, Leon Atkins and Eddy Atkins.

Survivors include two daughters, Paul Wood and husband, Bill, of Claude and Reva Roselius and husband, Jay, of Amarillo; a brothers, A.L. Atkins of Henrietta; grandchildren, Terri and Jason Roselius of Oklahoma City, Liz and Mike Hughes of Amarillo and Erin and Jerod Pingleton of Dumas.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 189, Panhandle, TX 79068, or to a favorite charity.
