Sarah Jane Ridge grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts and was one of three sisters. (Sarah, Hannah, Mabel.) As an adult she married Ralph (Raphael) Boudreau, Sr. They had four children together: Ralph, Roland, Mabel, and Carlton. When Roland was almost 7 years old he passed away of mastoiditis and it was a very sad time.
In 1943 Sarah's husband Ralph passed away (and in the same year her SON Ralph, did, also) and later Sarah married John Birkett. He was a friendly, happy person who was concerned with making Sarah happy. He asked her daughter Mabel to lunch and asked if it would be ok with her if he asked Sarah to marry him. "I don't want to do that if it is going to make you or your family unhappy". Mabel replied, "I'm glad, John. My mother needs someone and especially someone who will make her happy."
In 1966 Sarah passed away in a nursing home in Fall River.
