Misty Sue "Petey" was a sophomore at Hobart High School and worked as an aide at the Hobart YMCA. She was active in basketball, softball and track. She went out with her best friends, Summer Gamble, Jennifer Deboe, Rusty Windsor and Craig McLamb, to celebrate her 17th birthday. Lake County teens, looking to have fun, go to a road in Gary called Chase Street. Because of the heavy rain, the large bumps and dips in the road caused Misty to lose control of the car. Unfortunately, Misty Sue did not survive and it was a great loss for the many people she had touched in her short life. Misty Sue leaves behind her father Bill (Kellie) Hunt and mother Debra Sue Hunt, all of Hobart, 10 brothers and sisters: Kristie (Don) Hayes of KY, Lisa Hunt of Hobart, Bill Jr. (Stephanie) Hunt in the US Marine Corps in MO, Robin Keller of Hobart, Jean Ann Holland and Jay James Holland, both of AR, Katie Lynn Hunt, Jonathan Hunt, Bruce Hendry and Brittany Stewart, all of Hobart. Grandparents Shirley (Ruben) Yannuzzi of Hobart and Wanda (Mitchell) Law of Lake Station. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Neices, Nephews and Cousins, Including late Uncle Donnie Ray Sims.
