She lives with a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Terk, 57 Jacobs Highway, Town of Chenango. A native of Conklin Forks, Mrs. Snyder married Harvey B. Wilbur of Binghamton, Oct. 20, 1887. Mr. Wilbur fought with Company A of the 25th Regiment, a New York cavalry outfit. His yellowed discharge papers, treasured by Mrs. Snyder, reveal that he entered the Union Army Nov. 28, 1863, and was discharged June 27, 1865. Further details about Mr. Wilbur's military career are not known. Mr. Wilbur died in 1911. Mrs. Snyder later married John Snyder, of Conklin, who died in 1936. Mrs. Snyder, who was born and raised in a log cabin, is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ezekiel Finch. One of 13 children, she kept home for her father for a number of years after her mother died (she was eight at the time). By the time she was 12 years-old, she was doing domestic work in homes "all over the countryside," she says four of her five children are still living. They are Mrs. Mary L. Crosby of the New York State Veteran's Home at
Oxford, Mrs. Terk, Mrs. Myrtle E. Knox of Harpursville
and Mrs. Alice R. Smits of Eureka, Cal. a son, William,
died in childhood. Mrs. Snyder says she is thrilled by the way the world has changed since her childhood. Binghamton, N.Y., Aug; 31,1969 THE SUNDAY PRESS 3--D
