Henry Harold Dabney
Was born in Livingston, Montana in 1888. Moved with family to Oregon in 1893 Salem area then to Portland area around 1900 he went to Shattuck Grammer school graduating in 1907 and Lincoln High school where he was on the football team for three years and picked as an all Star end in 1907. He also played basketball.He resided in Hood River, Oregon at the time of his appointment to West Point. in 1909.
In March of 1910 he entered the institution and in September of 1910 started his schooling at West Point.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1915. Was 153rd out of 164 that graduated. Most of Captain Dabney’s service has been in the Infantry or recruiting officer. His first duty was with the 14TH Infantry then the 44th , & 70th then to the first infantry. Then two years of recruiting duty in San Francisco. Then to the ninth Infantry. Captain Dabney was made Corps Area Recruiting Officer of the Eight Corps Aug. 9, 1921 and served at that capacity until March 1, 1923. After this he went to Tientsin China with the 15th infantry and was promoted to Major. When there in Tientsin China he passed from Pneumonia, lobar bilateral. Brought on by influenza.
