Winslow A. Bryant was born about 1824 in Salem, Rockingham county, New Hampshire, the son of Andrew Bryant and Mary (--?--). He married Caroline Augusta Alley, 8 July 1847 in Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts and they had five children.

He enlisted 3 Dec 1863 at age 39. He served in the 2nd Massachusetts Volunteer Heavy Artillery, Company H., and was captured 20 Apr 1864 at Plymouth, North Carolina. He died 26 Aug 1864 of Scorbutus at Andersonville, Georgia.
