HOWLAND - G. Bert Crawford, 82, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.

He was born July 5, 1929, in Warren, the son of Jay and Georgette Wulffing Crawford, and had lived in Trumbull County all his life.

Bert served two years in the Merchant Marines then worked for 22 years at Republic Steel. After retiring, he was employed by the Southington School system for several years as a school bus driver. He enjoyed motorcycling, traveling and sailing.

Surviving are five children, David, Michelle and Velda, Dianne and Janine; seven grandchildren, Brian, Sonia, Jason, Clarice, Greg, April and Jessie; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his beloved son, Gregory; his parents; his wife, Donna Crawford; three brothers, Elmo, Gerald and Jarah; and two sisters, Beverly Weita and Sarah Tobin.

Services are private. According to his wishes, cremation will take place, and his urn will be laid to rest in Howland Township Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to McFarland & Son Funeral and Cremation Services.
