William Anthony Husband was born in England in 1823 and came to Canada and Preston as a young man. He was employed for a time as a bookkeeper by the firm of A. A. Erb & Bros. and was afterwards in business for himself. He gave that up to become Preston's town clerk in 1856. He held that position for forty-six years, retiring on March 3, 1902 due to advancing age and an increased work load. Mr. Husband died on April 18, 1907 at the age of 84 and is buried in Guelph.
