Mrs. Mattie Bargeron Aspinwall, age 86, of Patterson died Wednesday evening at Orange Park Medical Center in Jacksonville following a brief illness. She was a native of Wayne County but had lived most of her life in Pierce County. She was preceded in death by her husband James Jackson Aspinwall, her parents Benjamin Lonnie Bargeron and Sarah Bell Driggers Bargeron.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her 2 sons James Aspinwall wife Sharon of Bristol, Colon Aspinwall wife Sandra of Jacksonville, Fla., 3 grandchildren James Aspinwall of Jacksonville, Jeffery Aspinwall of Bristol, and Christopher Aspinwall of Patterson, 2 great grandchildren Tristin Aspinwall of Patterson and Alexander Aspinwall of Bristol, 3 brothers Ottis Bargeron wife Deloris of Florida, Benjamin Bargeron wife Julia of Lakeland, Ga., Clinton Bargeron wife Margaret of Blackshear, 3 sisters Katie Taylor of Brunswick, Florence Bruschke husband Walter of Folkston, Cornelia Taylor husband Donald of Alma, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday morning at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Patterson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6 pm at Smith Funeral Home.
