Lex Leonard Allred, 79, of Salinas, died Friday, March 26, 2004, in Greenfield, following an automobile accident.

He was born April 24, 1924, in Newton County, Ark. He was the owner of Lex Allred Chevron for 46 years.

Military: He served aboard the USS Olmstead during World War II.

Memberships: Mr. Allred was a member of the Alumni Association School of Ozarks, class of 1943. He was also a past member of American Legion Post No. 635 and the Silver Kings & Queens.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Corrine, stepson, Jim Wadsworth and parents, Eugene and Elsie Allred.

Survivors: Wife, Joan Allred of Salinas; son, Stephen Lex Allred; daughter, Donna Allred of Arkansas; stepchildren, Rod Wadsworth and Deborah Williams, both of Greenfield and Robert Smith of Salinas; brothers, Charlie Allred and Russell Allred, both of Greenfield, Herbert Allred and Kenneth Allred, both of Arkansas and Coy Allred of King City; sisters, Ruby A. Hayes of King City; and grandchildren, Britton Wadsworth, Melissa Williams, Heidi Williams and Travis Smith.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, March 30, at Whitehurst Terry Funeral Chapel, 395 East St., Soledad.

Chapel service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the mortuary chapel.

Burial: Holy Trinity Cemetery, Greenfield.

Arrangements: Whitehurst Terry Funeral Service.
