Francis S. Bania, 99 of Somers, after a good life and a great earthly journey he went to be reunited with his beloved wife, the late Pauline (O'Shea) Bania on Tuesday, (November 29, 2011). Frank was born on October 4, 1912 in Thompsonville the son of the late Stanley and Victoria (Sionkala) Bania. He graduated from Enfield High School in 1930 and was employed by Bigelow Sanford and later with the US Postal Service in Enfield. Frank resided in Enfield most of his life before moving to Somers. In his younger years he played semi-pro baseball and was an avid fan of the UCONN Huskies men's and women's basketball teams, but most of all was a diehard Red Sox fan. Frank is survived by his children; Thomas Bania & wife Donna of Suffield, Francis Bania & wife Beth of VA and Paula King of Willington, his four beloved granddaughters; Carol Joyce & husband Jim, of CA, Lois Kelley & husband Marc of Hampton, Catherine Monstello & husband Peter and Marian Hunter & husband Nick both of VA and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves asister Jennie Kearns of Hazardville, sister-in-law Charlotte Bania of CA, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends Bill and Lynette Gordon of Enfield. Frank was predeceased by a son-in-law Raymond King, a great granddaughter Annalise Kelley, a sister & brother-in-law Helen and William Lamont, a brother Joseph Bania and brother-in-law Frank Kearns and friend Victoria Easter.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday (Dec. 5, 2011) at the All Saints Church Somersville for a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Somers Center Cemetery.
