Past Braxton Dem Leader, Delegate Dies


GASSAWAY- Doyle F. McLaughlin, 48, of Sutton, who served three terms in the House of Delegates from Braxton County, died Friday at his home.


Mr. McLaughlin was vice president of the Meadow Stone & Paving Co. of Gassaway. He had served several years as chairman of the Braxton County Democrat Executive Committee and was serving as vice president of the West Virginia Contractors Assn., at the time of his death.


He also held membership in the American Society of Highway Engineers, Elks Lodge in Charleston, Sutton Moose Lodge and Lions Club. He attended the Baptist Church.


Survivors: wife, Bernice; daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Heizer of Charleston; brothers, Bland, Jack, and Carl of Gassaway, Jake of Clarksburg; sisters, Mrs. Mable Smith, Mrs. Macel Rader, Mrs. Blanche McElwaine of Gassawy, Mrs. Marjorie Brady of Clarksburg.


Service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Skidmore Funeral Home here. The Rev. Kelly Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
