An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on June 21, 1917 for A. H. Pollard, stated that he had died at his home on North Broadway, Tuesday [June 19, 1917]. For forty-one years, Mr. Pollard had been identified with the commercial life of Shelbyville, having established his jewelry store in 1876 since which time he had continuously conducted the business. He was born in LaSalle, Illinois, and at an early age came with his parents to this city. He was educated in the Shelbyville Seminary and learned his trade with the late Pat Mitchell in Shelbyville and with Ed. A. Theilins at Mattoon. Mr. Pollard was a member of the Catholic Church from which the funeral services were to be held, conducted by Rev. Fr. Healin. Mr. Pollard was not married. He was survived by three brothers and three sisters, namely; Thomas Pollard of Shelbyville, John M. Pollard of Kansas City, Mo., Edward Pollard of Waco, Tex., Mrs. J. E. Chabin of Hutchinson, Kan., and Misses Jennie and Kate Pollard of Shelbyville.
