Pioneer Woman Dies At 102
Former Hutchinson County deputy sheriff Mrs. Lizzie C. Meyers, 102, of 1901 S. Holly Ave., died Wednesday evening at a local nursing home. Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the George Boom Funeral Home. Interment will be at Wittenberg Cemetery, rural Olivet. Lizzie C. Rudisill was born May 11, 1875, near Lancaster, Pa. She lived with her parents in Illinois before they homesteaded near Olivet. On April 9, 1892, she married Jacob S. Meyers at Olivet. They farmed near Olivet before moving to Menno where her husband operated a general merchandise store and served as sheriff for Hutchinson County. Mrs. Meyers served as his deputy. She moved to Sioux Falls in 1936 after her husband's death in 1932. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Ziebarth, Sioux Falls; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
