John Coston Penton , well known citizen of this city , died at his home here in Wray on Saturday , Nov . 11 , following an illness that had covered a period of nearly throe years . Funeral services wore held at the Christian church in this city Sunday afternoon at 2 : 30 , conducted by the Rev . Rachel Dangerfield Boast of McCook, Nebraska. Burial took place in Grandview cemetery.
John Colston Penton , son of Mr., and Mrs. W . H . Penton , was born in Adams county , Iowa , March 23 , 1884, With his parents ho moved from Iowa to Kansas in 1880 , and two years later he came with his family to Yuma county , Colorado , residing here until his death. He was 38 years , seven months and 39 days old.
In September 1912 , ho was united in marriage to Miss Laura Glenn. To this union one child was born . For several years past Mr. Ponton had been engaged in the laundry business, having been the owner and proprietor of the Wray Laundry . On account of falling health he disposed of his laundry business several months ago held made plans to engage in another line of business which he thought would be bettor for his health . He had completed plans for his new business when he was stricken.
He leaves to mourn his departure a wife and one child, LeRoy his aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Ponton , one sister ; Mrs. Sadie Cumley , and three brothers , Will, Thomas and Dewoy Ponton all of Wray, Besides less -near relatives,. there are many distant relatives and a host of friends who will mourn his departure .
