==================================================
Mrs. Susan Jane Merrell, wife of John M. Merrell, died at their home on Midway road in Walnut Hill community Sunday, Nov. 25, 1928, aged 75 years. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon and interment made in the Merrell cemetery near by. Pallbearers were: Will Lacy, Tom Webb, Howard Brooks, Walter Thompson, Tom Merrell and Leroy Cochran.
Mrs. Merrell was a pioneer of Dallas county and had resided at the place where she died for over fifty years. Her husband had been born there and has resided there all of his life and is, we believe, about 82 years of age. To Mr. and Mrs. Merrell were born nine children, four sons and five daughters, and all of them are living, as is also the father and husband, this being the first death to occur in the family.
The four sons are: T. C. Merrell, John E. Merrell, Walter E. Merrell and W D. Merrell. The daughters are: Mrs. W. M. Cochran, Miss Maggie Merrell, Mrs. Julia Strait, Mrs. J. T. Howell and Mrs. J. Frank, Mrs. Frank being the wife of Dr. J. Frank of Farmers Branch. There are seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
