Harry Norman Butler, 82 Scottsdale, AZ formerly of Sioux Falls, SD passed away November 30, 2011 peacefully in his sleep. He was one of four boys of Ralph Raymond, Sr and Phyllis Velma (Weller) Butler of Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated from Washington High School in 1947 and served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea from 1947-1949. He attended the University of South Dakota and Sioux Falls College. He belonged to the ELKS (Lifetime Member) and VFW #628 (Lifetime Member)

Harry married Mary G. Rallis on August 18, 1951 and shared 50 years of marriage together before her passing in 2001. They had four daughters: Dena Christy Schreiber (Will), Kathy Hovland (Bill) ; Cindy Tiedeman (Tom) , and Angie Ackerman (Harry) . Six grandchildren: Brian Schoenhard, Dena Schoenhard, Lara Schukar (Ben), Justin Hovland, Mary Tiedeman and Lee Ackerman, two great-grandchildren: Montana Schoenhard and Phoenix Madsen. He is survived by two brothers Ben and Ralph Butler and was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Albert.

Harry worked in the grain business for Cargill Inc. and Bartlett Grain Co. in Sioux City IA until he started his own grain company, Butler Grain. He was President of the Grain and Feed, Sioux City, IA, and President of the Sioux City Grain Exchange. He and Mary then purchased a convenience store in Sioux Falls SD where they worked together for 15 years until his retirement.

Throughout his entire life Harry was blessed with great athleticism and a wonderful sense of humor. He had a great love of playing baseball and was invited to try out with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1946. He was part of the South Dakota baseball teams for the American Legion and the 1946 State Championship Team. Later he played for South Dakota in the "50 and over" World Series of Baseball. In 1994 and 1995 they were crowned National Champions. He cherished and always wore his championship rings until he passed. He became an Arizona Diamondbacks fan after retiring to Arizona and also wore their commemorative World Series ring. He wished to be buried in a diamondbacks uniform. Harry played baseball until age 67.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm on Friday December 09, 2011, Trisagion Prayer Service 7:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home, 507 So. Main, Sioux Falls SD. The memorial service will be at Miller funeral Home, on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 1:00 , followed by graveside services at the Hills of Rest Cemetery.
