Robert Heim, age 64, of Friendship, Maryland, died Sunday, August 1, 2010, in Baltimore, Maryland. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M., Saturday, August 28, 2010, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. The family will meet with friends beginning at 9 A.M. at the church. Lector will be Deanne Wolterman. Gift Bearers will be Diane Wood, Susan Nelson, and Dan Heim. Soloist will be Kelsey Knorr. Eucharistic Ministers will be Don Wiederhold, Bobby Theulen, and Maxine Busche. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Auburn with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion. The Sharp Funeral Home of Carroll is in charge of funeral arrangements. Bob was born on March 28, 1946, at Lake City, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Jean (Iler) Heim. He graduated from Dowling High School in West Des Moines, San Jose State University in California, the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterrey, Calif., and the University of Maryland in College Park. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1968 and served for twenty-two years as a full commander. He then worked as a consultant for The National Security Agency for nine years. Bob is survived by his daughters, Heather Cwynar and husband Mark of Glendale, Ariz., and Lisa Gallagher and husband Patrick of Reston, Virginia; two grandchildren, Camille and Kyle Cwynar; a special friend, Anne Miller of Ocracoke, North Carolina; his parents, Ray and Jean Heim of Carroll; four brothers, John Heim and wife Sue of Jacksonville, Oregon, Tom Heim and wife Lavenia of San Jose, Calif., Mike Heim of Carroll, and Dan Heim of Carroll; his sister, Jane Roberts and husband Todd of Breda; a nephew, Ben Heim of Minneapolis, Minn.; and nieces, Cathy Heim of Jacksonville, Oregon, Misty Heim of Fremont, Calif., Michelle Corallo of Stockton, Calif., Kendall, Eden, Rae, and Delaney Heim of Carroll, and Sarah, Natalie, and Erin Roberts of Breda. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
