Lester Rufus Newman, 88, passed away Sat 5 Feb 2011 at Golden Living Center in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tues, 8 Feb at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Vanstory Chapel. Interment will follwo at Burnett's Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Newman was a native of Guilford Co and retired employee with 51 years of service at Oakdale Cotton Mill in Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by a twin sister, Lessie Ruth Newman, two other sisters, Arrettia Hennis and Alita Hunt and two brothers, Floyd and Willard Newman, all of Greensboro.
Surviving are two nieces, Peggie McCuiston and Stella Hennis of Greensboro, two nephews, Coy W. Hennis of Greensboro and Harold Hunt of Colfax.
