*According to A. B. Conger, M.D., he was the paternal grandson of E. J. and Anne Rachels Willis. The E. J. Willis family Bible states that he was the grandson of James Alford and Martha Gloore Willis.
Maternally, he was the grandson of Thomas Ralph and Saphronia Davis.
