PVT, Co. I, 12th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. Enlisted in November 1861. He died in the City General Hospital in St. Louis Missouri on 28 January 1862 from a short bout with pneumonia. He was first buried in Wesleyan Cemetery, St. Louis. He was disinterred and moved to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. His final resting place is Section 51, Grave 776.Civil War Company I, 12th Iowa Infantry
