Wife of Scott Arthur Menefee Sr.

------------
Jeanne Lois Menefee was born to Jasper and Vera (Wilson) Alexander at Arnolds Park, Iowa on June 1, 1921. She graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1939. On October 21, 1939 she married Scott Menefee in Jackson, Minnesota. They spent their fifty years of marriage in the Lakes area. Jeanne passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the age of 86.
Jeanne was a life-long resident of the Lakes area and was proud of her pioneer Okoboji heritage. She loved the outdoors whether pheasant hunting, fishing on a dock, or fishing in an old wooden rowboat with her best friend and cousin, Bev Petersen. She also operated the Boji Boutique with Bev and used the profits for a train trip to Las Vegas and California – one of her favorite memories.

Jeanne loved to spend time with her family; taking the grandchildren fishing, beating them at Yahtzee, and serving them great home cooked meals. Pies and cookies were her specialties. She loved growing flowers and had a gorgeous African violet collection. Her embroidered tea towels were a special gift to children and grandchildren. Her handiwork is on display at the Arnolds Park Library where her Okoboji Bridge block is part of the Arnolds Park Centennial Quilt. She was an avid fan of the Cubs and Hawkeyes. She enjoyed casino trips, Saturday night bingo and playing cards with her friends.

Left to cherish her memory are: her son, Terry (Jan) Menefee of Milford, IA and their children Christopher (WA), Kurt (IA), and Jon (WA); daughter, Sherrill (Marty) Kuiken of Canon City, CO and their children Amy (Bob) Richardson (CO) and Amanda Kuiken (CO); and daughter, Jeanine (Dave) Holdiman of Marshalltown, IA and their children Jennifer (Kirk) Gaa (TX), Amanda (Brad) Berger (TX) and Rebecca (Merrill) Holdiman-Miller (AK). Survivors include her brother, Richard Alexander of Milford, IA and five great grandchildren, Alexander and Hunter Menefee, Caden and Alyssa Richardson and Zane Berger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott in 1989, son, Scottie in 1943 and granddaughter, Melanie Holdiman in 1975.

Jeanne will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
