Ernie Whitcomb became lost in the Jefferson area while hunting in 1961, and was never (officially) found. Several years after his disappearance, a hunter came across a skull and some clothing. The skull was studied (possibly somewhere like Dartmouth college, maybe) and they felt it was that of a man about Ernie's age, and the clothing was what he could have been wearing, so they felt it might have been him.
