Musician. Born in France in 1944, he was considered to be one of the most prominent Cello players of his day. A student of Franchomme at the Paris Conservatoire, Delsart succeeded him upon his death. His interest in instruments such as the Viola da Gamba inspired him to found the Societé des Instruments Anciens that performed throughout Europe. He and fellow musicians David Popper and Edward Howell premiered Popper’s “Requiem (F sharp minor)” for three cellos and orchestra in 1891.
