Shirley June Herbert, 74, passed away on Friday, August 29, after a long illness. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mickie and Allen Griggs; and many, many good friends. She had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, when she moved here from Michigan with her family. Shirley retired from Goodwill Industries in 2000, and at the time of her retirement was Communications Director. She had been an active member of EWI and the Weavers Guild and was always a faithful supporter of the local Animal Humane Association. Shirley was a voracious reader and was well versed in world, state and national politics. She was never at a loss for an educated opinion or the arguments to support it. She had a keen interest in people and accumulated friends throughout her life, on two continents. She loved to travel.

Shirley Herbert was such an inspiration to her friends and colleagues that a yearly award was named in honor of her memory "The Shirley June Herbert Achiever Of The Year"

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to friends and neighbors for their years of faithful help and support which enabled Shirley to remain in her own home until her final days.
