Stella died Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Grenada Living Center. She was born in Carroll County, Mississippi on January 18, 1915 and was the daughter of John James Howard and Pearl Wiggins Howard.
Stella was employed by Pennaco Hosiery Mill as a supervisor until her retirement. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Aven; one sister, Ida Mae Howard; and three brothers, Houston Howard, Lloyd S. Howard, and Thurman H. Howard.
She is survived by one daughter, Bettye Putman of Grenada and two nieces, Barbara Brock of Kosciusko and Mary Jane Trusty of Greenwood.
