PLATTSBURGH/ILION — Florence C. (McCoy) Richards, formerly of 66 West Clark St., Ilion, passed away on Nov. 27, 2011, in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was born on Aug. 29, 1913, in Mohawk, the daughter of Albert and Grace Jones McCoy, and was educated in Ilion schools. On Oct. 16, 1937, she was married to Robert E. Richards in Utica, N.Y.

Over the years, Florence was employed by the Remington Typewriter Co., W.T. Grant Co., Ilion Central Schools and was retired from Mutual Distributors. She is a parishioner of the Church of the Annunciation.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Robert Scully of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Mary and James Hoy II of Tallahassee, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Richards of Ilion; eight grandchildren, Kathleen (Joseph) Roberts of Frankfort, Karen (Joseph) Franco of Mohawk, Elizabeth Richards of Ilion, Robert A. Richards of Ilion, Kerry (John) Halstead of Waco, Texas, David Scully and fiancé Jenny Kelton of Plattsburgh, Eileen Netti of Tallahassee, Fla., James Hoy III of Jacksonville, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Joshua and Kailee Roberts, Derek and Anthony Franco, Jaiden Scully and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Florence was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Richards in 1970; her son, Robert I. Richards in 1995; five sisters, Rose McCoy, Gladys Capes, Grace Stephens, Charlotte Sweet and Edna DeForrest; two nieces, Patricia Hight and Charlene Morgan; and one nephew, Albert DeForrest.

In keeping with Florence's wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a Mass of Christian burial at the Church of the Annunciation at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, celebrated by Father Anthony Barratt, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ilion Ambulance Fund, Central Fire Station, Ilion, N.Y. Envelopes will be available at church.
