At 5'11" and 171lbs and a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, he played the position of Goalie for teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), Canadian Amateur Hockey League (CAHL), and the Iceon Adult Hockey League (IAHL). He played fro the Calgary Jimmies in two Memorial Cup games, Philadelphia Arrows from 1935 to 1936, Philadelphia Ramblers from 1935 to 1936, 1937 to 1938, 1938 to 1939, and 1939 to 1940, New York Rangers from 1935 to 1936, and 1938 to 1939, New Haven Eagles from 1939 to 1940, Montreal Canadiens from 1940 to 1941, and 1941 to 1942, Washington Lions from 1941 to 1942, Chicago Blackhawks from 1942 to 1943, and the Boston Bruins from 1943 to 1944.
