Michael was born in Greenville, SC on October 22, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Gloria (Missel) Anders of Greenville. Michael graduated from Greenville High School in 1968. She furthered her education at Greenville Tech where she studied accounting. She married her husband, Lawrence "Mike" Burnette, a US Marine, in 1969. During Mike's service as a Marine and later as a civilian, the Burnettes moved several times throughout the States as well as spending time in Europe.
Michael was an avid equestrian throughout her life. She loved her horses and the time spent with them. She also enjoyed running, entertaining, cross stitching, knitting, reading and shopping. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and strength as a friend, wife, sister and mother and as a loving "Nonna" by her grandchildren.
Michael was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Earl Anders, and a sister, Toni Tumlin. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Mike Burnette; a brother, Robert E. Anders, of Greenville, SC; a sister, Donna Long, of Austin, TX.; her daughter and son in law, Kimberly and Brian Libby of Buxton, ME and her beloved grandchildren, Kellany and Cole Libby.
Memorial and inurnment services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive., Greenville, SC 29615 (864-244-4622), in the Remembrance Mausoleum Chapel.
