David D. McCall, born June 28, 1936, in Seaman, OH, died November 20, 2011, at Sycamore Hospital.

Preceded in death by parents John and Libby McCall; daughter Veronica Vulgamore, and infant son Michael Wayne. Survived by wife Jean; daughter Claudia McCall, grandsons Byron and Bryan Vulgamore, and great-granddaughter Victoria Benedetto.

Dave was a 1954 graduate of Patterson Cooperative High School and was a journeyman pressman at the Reynolds & Reynolds Co. for 22 years before becoming a teacher. He earned a master's degree from the Univ. of Cincinnati and taught 20 years in the Dayton Public Schools.

His musical career, which spanned more than 50 years, began with the formation of a dance band in high school. He played with the Al Goechel Band, the Freddie Max Band, the Do's and Don'ts of Dixieland, the Classic Jazz Stompers, his own band Nostalgia, and the retirement band at 10 Wilmington Place.

He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Central Christian Church and of the Millennium Lodge, F&AM.

Friends are invited to join the family in a time of fellowship on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by a memorial service at 12 noon at Central Christian Church, 1200 Forrer Blvd., Kettering. The Rev. David Turner and the Rev. Dixie French will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests your consideration of the American Heart Assn., the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, or the Maurice Fogle Scholarship Fund of the church.

Interment will be at the Bellbrook Cemetery.
