Illness Fatal To Alvin Martin, 87
Alvin H. Martin, 87, a resident of Fairfield for 57 years, died at 3:43 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital. He had been in failing health for several years.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Wilson Hyde. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Martin was born Dec. 11, 1882, at Camargo, Ill., the son of Ambrose R. and Rebecca Gurney Martin. He was married Aug. 10, 1902, to Emma McWilliams. She died May 6, 1959.
Martin was a member of the United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sons; Gerald A. Martin, Fairfield, Route 4; and Roy A. Martin, Aurora, Ill.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. One son, one daughter, two brothers and six sisters are deceased.
