Gladys Ellen Cummings, age 84, passed away Thursday, March 12 at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, Mo.
Gladys was born in Dayton, Mo. on November 12, 1913.
She was one of four children born to Claude and Iris (Stephens) Fitzwater. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Dayton. When she was a young girl her family moved to Harrisonville, Mo. Gladys attended and graduated from Harrisonville High School. On July 22, 1932, she was united in marriage to Doris "Doe" Darrel Cummings. To this union three children were born; Doris "Doie", Darrel and Glenna. Gladys worked at various jobs, Harrisonville Creamery, Harrisonville Hotel and Pratt & Whitney during World War II. Gladys worked most of her years at the Harrisonville High School as a secretary for Mr. Stephen Childress. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, a sister, twin granddaughters and a great-granddaughter. Suviving are a daughter Doris "Doie" and husband Junior Keeney, Climax Springs, Mo, a son, Darrel and wife Mary Lou Cummings, Garden City, Mo, a daughter, Glenna Cummings, of the home, two grandsons, Mike and Mark Keeney, two granddaughters, Monica Dabbs and Marla Shaw, seven great grandkids and one great-great-granddaughter.
