Funeral services for Mr. Horace Ray Brownell, 88, of Delhi will be held at 10AM Friday, December 2, 2011 in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi with Rev. Mickey Bounds officiating.
Burial will be in the Faith Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Mr. Brownell was born on November 23, 1923 in Baskin, LA and live in Madison Parish and the Delhi area for most of his life.

His dad died as a result of a farm accident. Horace joined the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) as a teenager and came home and took over the family farm when his older brothers entered WWII where he also took care of his widowed mother and sister with two children. Later in life he was plaqued with seizures .

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Harvey Brownell Jr. and Fannie Phillips Brownell; three sisters, Estelle Watts, Elsie Louise Hazel and Alma Russell and two brothers, Harvey "Bud" Brownell and PFC Claude H. Brownell who was killed in Normandy, France during WWII.

He is survived by five nieces Faye Purvis, Claudia Clower, Nora Sue Hammock, Yvette Eaton and Camile Sorenson all of California and three nephews Jerry Carter of Massachusetts and Bobby Brownell and Jimmy Brewster both of California.
