Robert James (Bob) Polivka died Sunday, August 20, 2006, at St. David's South Austin Hospital after a long struggle with diabetes.
Bob was born April 6, 1936, to Edward and Katheryn Polivka of Glendive, Montana.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack Polivka.
He is survived by his children: Jean Polivka of Austin, Craig Polivka of Austin; grandson Jacob Mullins of Austin; stepchildren: Ron Wells and wife Lisa of Midland, Texas and Sue Ison of Arizona; sisters Irene Donovan and husband Fred of Willistin, North Dakota; Wilma Hagquist and husband Bill of Holiday Island, Arkansas; and KAnn Kron and husband Ted of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; as well as nieces and nephews.
Bob served in the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman which included almost a year in French Morocco.
He retired from the Austin Police department with the rank of Sergeant in December 1991 after 31 years of service.
Bob was member of American Legion Knebel Post 83, Elk's Lodge #201, Austin Police Retired Officers Association, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 91 and First Baptist Church of Oak Hill.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 6:30 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Oak Hill, 6907 Convict Hill Road, Austin, Texas 78749, Pastor Ray Knowles officiating. Interment of his ashes will be in Glendive, Montana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
