for Edith M. Stephens, age 87, Pittsboro, who died September 23 at the

Born July 16, 1906 at Ladoga, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Effie
(Sanders) Pope. She married Ray Stephens in 1958 (sic, should be 1959) and
he preceded in 1959 (sic, should be 1973). Mrs. Stephens owned and operated
Edythe's Grill in Pittsboro for 41 years prior to retiring. She was a member
of the Pittsboro Christian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded.
