Jose Maria Arocha, son of Tomas Arocha and Maria Antonia Romero. He was married to Maria Josefa Teresa Jesus Arrellano. He was the father of Gertrudis and Rita Arocha.

Jose Maria participated at the Battles of Bexar and San Jacinto under the command of Juan N. Seguin. In 1841, he was killed in an Indian attack. On June 22, 1841 Jose Maria was buried at the Camposanto of San Antonio, Texas.

JOSE MARIA AROCHA was born in Texas, but the date is unknown. He was married to Jesusa Arrean who was born in San Antonio and died there in 1853. They had two daughters, Gertrudes and Rita Arocha. Jose was just one of many Hispanic Tejano Patriots that fought for independence from the Mexican Republic.

Jose Arocha was attached to the command of Captain Juan Seguin, and participated in the Battles at Bexar and San Jacinto . In 1838, Jose along with another San Jacinto Veteran, Pedro Herrera were killed in an Indian attack. They were members of Captain Manuel Flores' Company on expedition between Calvillos Rancho and San Antonio. History does not reveal the exact location of there death and if or where they were buried.
