Cathy Lynne Bates

Services for Cathy Lynne Bates, 53, of Blum, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, in Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Sammy Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in the Blum Cemetery in Blum, Texas.
Cathy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter, finally conquered her battle with cancer on Friday, Nov. 14, 2003.
Mrs. Bates was born June 3, 1950, in Atlanta, Ga., to Milton Sears and Lucille Cheatwood Sears. She married James Bates on Oct. 4, 1968, at Fairfield, Calif.
Cathy graduated from Hill College in 1980 with a degree in nursing and worked in the Cleburne area for over 23 years. She always gave unselfishly to her patients and all others in need. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blum and a member of the Texas Nurses Association and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Bates is survived by her loving husband of over 35 years, James M. Bates of Blum; her three children, Jill Bates of Austin, James M. Bates Jr. and wife Veronica of Cleburne and Melanie Roye and husband Chris of Blum. She leaves to this world her greatest joy in life, her five grandchildren, Dan and Dustin Pullen and Christopher, Mackenzie and Noah Bates; mother, Lucille Williams; sisters, Judy Hammack and husband Ernest and Bonny Abbott and husband Jimmy; brothers, Michael Sears and wife Emily and Christopher Sears and wife Stacy, as well as many other friends and family. She was preceded in death by her father Milton Sears.
The family wishes to thank all the wonderful, compassionate physicians and nurses at the Cleburne Cancer Center and the Emery J. Lilge Hospice House.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday.
