Samuel Bergquist, a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home here at 8:20 o'clock Friday night at the age of 81
years. He had been ill more than a year with a complication of diseases.
Mr. Bergquist was born in Sweden. At the age of four years he was brought by his family to America. When
sight of land on this side, his mother died. She was buried in New York.
He was married to Vermillia Trotter, who with the following children survive: David of Galesburg, Mrs. Charles

Cleer of Peoria, Mrs. Guy Thomas of Havana and Mrs. Glen Ring of Muskegon, Michigan.
Mr. Bergquist served throughout the Civil War with the union forces. A military funeral will be held, probably
tomorrow but the exact hour was not decided pending word from the son.
