All hearts in this community are
touched by the crushing sorrow that
has fallen t h e family of Mr. J. H.
Bucklin and a l l that human love and
sympathy can b r i n g in such an hour is
oiTered in heartfelt measure to t h e
stricken husband, the desolated family
circle and t h e infant daughter
(Lynda Elizabeth Billings) left
motherless by this great bereavement.
Jessie Hortense Bucklin was born in
this city and l i v ed here until her marriage
t o Mr. R. Blass Billings nearly
five years ago. Hers was a beautiful
character and to her graces of mind
and heart was added such a winsome
personality that wherever she was
known there is deepest grief over the
going out of so bright and useful a life.
Mrs. Billings was a person of many
gifts, intellectual and musical, and h er
talents and time were always unsparingly
given to any good cause. For
several years s h e was a member of t h e
choir of St. Paul's church, a teacher
in its Sunday school and identified with
all of its activities , and in the social
life of our city her bright spirit and
charm of manner made her an especial
favorite.
Three years ago Mr. and Mrs Bill
ings removed to Rome, N.Y., where
she speedily won for herself a warm
place in the hearts of her new friends.
The vacancy left in that social circle
and in h e r church there, to whose interests
she was so warmly and unselfishly
devoted, will not soon be filled.
Mrs. Billings' death occurred o n last
Saturday morning at 9:30 at the home
of her father, after an illness of over
two weeks. The funeral services will
be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock, at
52 W i l l i am street, Rev. V. E. Tomlinson,
of this city, and Rev. Mr. Case, of
Rome, officiating.

Her daughter Lynda was brought up by her grandparents in
Little Falls, NY, went on to marry Rev. Edwin Knox Mitchell, residing in CT.
