John Terill was the only child of John Webster and Mary Elizabeth Hassell. A graduate of Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, he served his country as a Private in the United States Army in the Korean War, where he lost his life shortly after being entering the conflict. The plaque pictured rests between the graves of his paternal grandparents. His remains are entombed with his parents at Sherwood Park Mausoleum in Salem, VA. John Terill was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
